Henry T. Schonewitz, age 73, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Henry was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Orange Grove Masonic Lodge #635, where he served as Past Master. He was a longtime member of Grace Chapel Church, where he served as a deacon. He was an automotive machinist working for many years in the industry. He loved fishing, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was a devoted Christian, loving husband, and loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ardie Mae Schonewitz; son-in-law, Mike Murphy; 2 brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia McGuire Schonewitz; children, Pamela Bond and her husband Arland of Perkinston, Janet Schonewitz of Saucier, and Peggy Murphy of Saucier; 3 sisters and 3 brothers; grandchildren, Michael, Kenneth, Chassity, and Rachel, and Sarah Bond, all of Perkinston, Tara Blythe of Gulfport, Aaron Seymour of McHenry, and David Murphy of Saucier; 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will held on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Grace Chapel Church, at 2:00 p.m., where friends may call an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
