Henry (Hank) Lero, age 82 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, May 17, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Lero was born on June 26, 1925, in Cheyenne, WY to Hurley & Bertha Faye Jackson Lero. He grew up in Overland Park, KS.
At the age of 17, his mother signed him into the United States Navy. After serving 27 months in the South Pacific during WWII, on the USS J. Douglas Blackwood (DE 219), Henry returned to Kansas City, KS, where he met and married Carolyn Mae Hardsaw on September 21, 1945.
Together they had five sons and three daughters; Ronald Hurly, Dawn Maurine, Brickford Allen, Forest Kristophor, Steven Darryl, Me Lynn Beth, Mikel Henry, and Cara Maria.
Mr. Lero is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and his church family at Gateway United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 6:00pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Lero will then be sent to Porter Funeral Home in Kansas City, KS for services and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
