The following was written by Rebecca Glass. September 27, 2014
Bro. Ted and Ms. Jo,
I will begin my letter to you as Paul began his letter to the Thessalonians:
"...to you who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May God give you grace and peace. We always thank God for you and pray for you constantly. As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ."
What a blessing you are to so many. Where and how do I begin to say "Thank You" for the influence you have had on my life and Hilton's as well.
I will never forget how excited you were, Ms. Jo, when Hilton made his profession of faith. You told me you could "see Hilton falling in love with Jesus more and more every day". How precious those words were, and still are, to me. You will be happy to know that my husband is STILL falling in love with Jesus more every day. Thank you for your role in helping him "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ". (2 Peter 3:18)
Bro. Ted, while Ms. Jo is a shining example of the Titus 2 woman, you are the faithful man Peter describes in 1 Peter 5. You have cared for the "flock God has entrusted to you" by watching over it "willingly, not grudgingly" because you are "eager to serve God". You have led us by your own good example. "And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor". (1 Peter 5:2-4)
You have honored the Lord's command to "Be strong and courageous" (Joshua 1:9) in the face of heartbreak and adversity. I have watched you "trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5) and never doubt his good and perfect will. You have exemplified James 1:2-4.
On that glorious day when you stand before our lord and see Him face to face (Rev. 22:4), you will hear the words "Well done, my good and faithful servant". (Matthew 25:23)
Thank you for the faithfulness and service to all of us. We have learned so much from you. "May you be strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father". (Colossians 1:11-12)
In closing, I will borrow from Peter's words in 1 Peter 1:6-7 "There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold - though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world".
With love and prayers, your sister in Christ, Rebecca Glass
