Helen Thomas, age 92, of Gulfport, entered Heaven to be with her Savior on Monday, February 18, 2008.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Independence Township, Kansas on October 19, 1915 and lived in Ojai, CA for most of her life. After the death of her husband, she moved to Gulfport to live with her daughter and family. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
In addition to her husband, Lester Thomas, she was preceded in death by her parents, Howard & Ruth Albert; her sister, Edith Griffith; her brother, Ken Albert and her eldest daughter, Barbara Jean Gullick.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay VanderLey and her husband Paul; her six grandchildren, Johnny, Glenn & Brian Davis of Modesto, CA, Dan (Linda) VanderLey of Mobile, AL, Cathy (Phillip) Watson of Waldorf, MD and Linda (Mark) Powell of Biloxi; eight great grandchildren, Daren & Dana VanderLey, Paul & Jonathan Inoa & Natalie Watson, and Ashleigh, Joshua & Jordan Powell.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00am at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Memorial Baptist Church, Special Missionary Offering, 2301 23rd Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.
