Helen Harrod Morgan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 2, 2021.

She was born May 16, 1939 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She graduated from Gulfport High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was an elected beauty at Gulfport High School, as well as all four years at University of Southern Mississippi. Helen was selected by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as National Rose of Delta Sigma Pi. After college, she taught elementary school in Houma, Louisiana, Jacksonville, Florida, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Atlanta, Georgia. She married Dr. Douglas H. Morgan in 1966. Helen served as President of the Atlanta Chi Omega Alumni Association. She worked at Glyn Weakley, Ltd. in Buckhead for 23 years, where she expanded her knack for decorating. Helen made good friends there that lasted the rest of her life. She was a faithful member of Northside United Methodist Church for decades.

Helen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Douglas H. Morgan; sisters Ann Williams of Cumming, Georgia and Jimmie Jane Miller of Long Beach, MS; children, Dr. Ashley Norman (husband, Trey) and their children, Morgan and Sara Norman, all of Prattville, Alabama, Douglas H. Morgan Jr. of Batavia, Ohio, Leigh Anne Hurley (husband Jamie) and their two children, Caroline and Katherine Hurley, all of Smyrna, Georgia, and Rebecca Kerr (husband, Michael) of Corinth, Mississippi.

Helen will have a private ceremony in the chapel at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Long Beach, MS, followed by entombment at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, www.bcrf.org in her memory.
