Helen La Fontaine, age 93, of Orange Grove, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of the Coast and worked as a beautician, then she worked and retired in 1972 as Teacher and Disability Specialist with Headstart (Gulf Coast Community Action Agency). She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyman, and enjoyed camping, fishing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard "Bully" Bond and Katie Belle Bosarge Bond; her husband, Robert J. "Dick" La Fontaine, Sr.; her son, Robert J. "Bobby" La Fontaine, Jr.; her grandson, Robert Alton McDaniel; and her great-grandson, John Robert Street.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Robinson (Mike), Linda Pucheu and Karen Farner (Mac); her daughter-in-love, Carolyn La Fontaine; her grandchildren, Sherry Pucheu, Cheryl Akins, Joe Robinson, Jeff La Fontaine, Lee Farner, Christy Thompson, Tim McDaniel, Chad Akins, and Tanya Akins; her 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her dog, Daisy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services at First Baptist Church of Lyman, 14321 Old Highway 49, Gulfport on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Visitation will be held for the Family from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., with visitation for the Public from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12 Noon.
Burial will follow at Bayou Caddy Cemetery in Lakeshore (5245 Bud Ladner Road).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Lyman.
