Helen Marie Holliman

Helen Marie Holliman, age 81, was born in Effingham, IL on June 11, 1929, and passed away on March 30, 2011, after a lengthy illness in Gulfport. She was a Christian of non-denominational religion.
She owned and operated Avon's Grocery with her husband Avon, for many years on Three Rivers Road.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Flora Jones; her husband, Avon Z. Holliman and one daughter, Anita Eloise Holliman.
She is survived by sons, Vonnie (Frances) Holliman, and Danny Holliman all of Gulfport, Donnie (Leanne) Holliman of Long Beach and Gerald (Theresa) Holliman of Perkinston; daughters, Rita Fisher and Jeanie (Brad) Yocom all of Gulfport; grandchildren, Dennis Holliman, John (Jessica) Holliman, and Jesse Holliman all of Vancleave, Joey Holliman of Wiggins, Damian (Cinnimon) Fisher of Van Nuys, CA, Tyler and Logan Holliman of Perkinston, Josiah, Sarah, Myrah, Lauren, and Marleigh Holliman all of Long Beach; great grandsons, Matthew and Evan Holliman of Vancleave and Bodhi Fisher of Van Nuys, CA; great granddaughters, Shelby and Angelica Holliman of Vancleave; sisters-in-law, Anna Banks of Gulfport and Florence Holliman of Paradise, CA.
She is also survived by numerous family members and friends in Effingham, IL and surrounding areas where she was raised.
She loved people and music and played the keyboard. She was a wonderful mother and friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her oldest son, Vonnie and his wife Frances, for all the years they cared for her in their home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 3:00pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 49 North in Gulfport, where family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Holliman-Dobson Cemetery in Gulfport.
