Helen Patricia """"Pat"""" Findlay, 75, a resident of Long Beach, Mississippi, died Friday, December 5, 2008, in Gulfport, holding the hand of her beloved husband Jim and with devoted son Chris by her side. She peacefully passed away 50 years to the day she brought her cherished son Douglas into the world. Mrs. Findlay was born in London, Ontario, Canada on June 16, 1933 and was a Long Beach resident since 1976. She was an accomplished Interior Decorator, a faithful member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, and a senior member of the Pass Christian Art Association. She was a multiple-award winning Cub Scout Den Mother prior to her expulsion for being an alien. She earned her United States citizenship, assisted at St. Thomas Church, served as the founding member and art designer for the Krewe of DocMarVa, enjoyed collecting United States Marine Corps memorabilia, and was an ardent supporter of the Guardian Angels. Mrs. Findlay was preceded in death by her father Albert Nutkins, of London, Ontario, Canada, and her mother Helen Murray Oag of Pulteneytown, Wick, Caithness, Scotland. She was the devoted mother of Donald Bruce and Robert James Findlay of Long Beach, Mississippi, the dear step-sister of Stanley Michael """"Butch"""" Walzack, Jr., beloved step-daughter of Stanley Michael Walzack of Grafton, Ontario, Canada, and of Dot Nutkins of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and the beloved niece of Willa and Verna Nutkins of Buffalo New York, all preceding her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband Donald James Findlay and her sons Douglas Cameron Findlay of Arlington, VA and Christopher William Findlay of Long Beach, MS, her sister Betty Claire Feist with nephews Mark and Paul Feist, her step-sister Beverley Anne Williscraft with nephews David, Michael and Thomas Williscraft and niece Laura Williscraft, and her step-brother David Walzack, all of Ontario Canada; and her four grandchildren James Douglas Findlay, Camerine Ann Findlay, Sander Ian Findlay, and Heather Lee Findlay.
Friends and loved ones are welcome to gather at 10 am on Friday, December 12, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. Mass will be celebrated at 11 am followed by burial at the St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Pass Christian.
