Hazel Velma Ladner Stone, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on January 22, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Stone was born May 13, 1911 in Gulfport and was a member of a pioneer family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin & Ethel Ladner; her husband, C.H. """"Pops"""" Stone, who was the lighthouse keeper at Ship Island for 30 years; a son, Rev. C.H. Stone, Jr and wife Myrtis Anderson; daughter-in-law, Olene Knott Stone; son-in-law, William Wayne Donald; grandsons, Billy Wayne Donald, Jr., and C.H. Stone, III; great grandson, Calvin Amos Lee; sisters, Florence """"Sister"""" Collins and Gladys Hall; brothers, Felton Hoarce, Clifton, Calvin, George, Wayne, Kenneth, and Lamar Ladner.
Mrs. Stone is survived by her sister, Earline Stiglets; her daughters, Ethel Stone Smith (husband Bob) of Springfield, KY, Carolyn Stone Donald of Fort Worth, TX, Lana Stone Sumerall (husband Maurice) of Palestine, TX and Vee Stone May of Gulfport; her sons, Glenn A. Stone of Gulfport and T. Dale Stone (wife Harriet) of Monroe, LA; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Ladner and Mary Lee Ladner. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 3:00pm at New Hope Baptist Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Stone will be missed by her beloved children and grandchildren. She was known to make a mean shrimp and oyster gumbo. She was a wonderful cook, mother and chauffeur of her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her.
