Harvey Ray Carr, 78, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Gulfport.
Mr. Carr grew up in Moline, Illinois and lived on the MS Gulf Coast for the past 25 years. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Carr retired after 30 years with Rock Island Arsenal as an Industrial Specialist.
Mr. Carr loved basketball and was a star player in East Moline. He loved fishing, antique cars and riding motorcycles. He was a member of Kenwood Baptist Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lela Carr. Survivors include his wife, Betty Oakes Carr of Gulfport; son, Christopher Carr (Casey) of Silver Springs, Maryland; step-children, Barry Oakes (Sherilyn), Mark Oakes (Hyacinth) and Penny Oakes Necaise, all of Gulfport; brothers, Jim Carr (Ann) of Tuscon, Arizona and Delbert Carr (Betty) of Pass Christian; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and other loving friends on the coast and in Moline.
Contributions may be made to Kenwood Baptist Church, 12217 Old Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39503.
Visitation will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. The service will follow at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be held in Free Church of God Cemetery. Tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com
