Harvel Floyd Ryan, Jr.  “Bud”, age 82, of Gulfport, went to be with Jesus in eternity on June 22, 2023.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvel Floyd Sr. and Claudia Marie Fore Ryan; a sister, Floye Ryan (Haskel) Alexander; and a brother, Chester Wayne Ryan.  

Harvel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Entrekin Ryan; two daughters, Deborah Ryan, and Robin Ryan DeNicola (Frank); one son, Randal Scott (Sherri) Ryan; and three grandsons, Steven Ryan, Dominic (Hannah) DeNicola, and Andre (Makenna) DeNicola. He also leaves a sister, Charlotte Strahan and brother-in law Timmy Entrekin, along with many relatives and friends to honor his memory.

Harvel was born in Howison, MS, November 28, 1940.  Harvel grew up in Howison and McHenry, MS, and later moved to Gulfport.  At a young age he learned many mechanical skills from his Uncle Hyman Fore.  Harvel owned and operated his own business, Bud’s Refrigeration, Heating, and Air Conditioning, for many years.  He later consolidated his company with another locally owned company, Geiger Heating and Air. In 1994, he went to work for one of the local casinos in their engineering department. 

In Galatians 6:9 we read these words:  “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Throughout his life, Harvel stood firm; he never quit.  He leaves us this as an example to emulate in our own lives. 

Our family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Lakeview Nursing Center and Memorial Hospital Gulfport. The continued care and respect showed to Harvel “Bud” gives our family comfort and peace.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Harvel Floyd Ryan, Jr. may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) or a preferred charity. Tributes may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com.
