Harry Ferguson

Harry McGinley (Mack) Ferguson, Sr., went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2010, in Pensacola, Florida.
Mr. Ferguson was born on January 5, 1922, in Blairsville, PA, to Harry Cloud Ferguson and Mary McGinley Ferguson. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, the US Air Force Reserve in 1947, and retired after 22 years of service.
Mr. Ferguson received his baccalaureate in Accounting from Mississippi State University in 1949 and began a career that included insurance sales and hospital administration in Jackson, Meridian, and Gulfport, MS. After serving as assistant administrator with Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mr. Ferguson was a consultant for the American Hospital Association of Chicago, IL, from 1968 until his retirement.
Mr. Ferguson loved his family, traveling, and serving his church. He was active in his childrenaÌ‚â‚â„¢s lives, serving as PTA President while those children attended Handsboro Elementary School, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and he was a Mason. Mr. Ferguson was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Gulfport, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Elder Emeritus. He lived in Gulfport from 1958 until moving to Pensacola following Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents and by his loving wife of 58 years, Emma Jean (Carr) Ferguson. He is survived by his brother, John Ferguson, of Lunenburg, MA. Mr. Ferguson is also survived by his three children: Harry M. Ferguson, Jr. (Colleen), Felice Ferguson Trippe (Paul), and Mary Allison Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson had four grandchildren: Justin and Angus Ferguson, and Allison and David Trippe.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Rebuilding Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport (PCA), 10885 OaÌ‚â‚â„¢Neal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.
