Harrison Robert """"H R"""" and """"Bob"""" Lampkin, 85, of Gulfport, passed away on May 20, 2009, in Pass Christian. He was born on July 15, 1923 in Jasper Co., MS, and had been a resident of Gulfport for 69 years.
Mr. Lampkin was retired from Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base. During his career he was Chief Engineer at Memorial Hospital, Construction Engineer for Sears, Roebuck and Co., and a Boiler Operator for Gulf Coast Prestress.
He loved and missed his wife dearly and loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He loved gardening and was known for many years in Gulfport as the """"Vegetable Man"""" He loved being in the great outdoors and fishing was his favorite pastime.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Kranz Lampkin; his parents, Harrison Robert Lampkin, Sr. and Ruth Combest Lampkin (Barnes); and his grandfather, Buster Combest, who he admired dearly after the early death of his father.
He is survived by three sons, Greg Lampkin, Adam Lampkin, and Dean Lampkin; three grandchildren, Desiree Cuevas, Daphne Harper, and Jessie Lampkin; and two great grandchildren, Chase Cuevas, and Daelyn Harper.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUENRAL HOME, 11213 Hwy 49N, Gulfport.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery, in Long Beach.
