Harold C. York, 85, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Gulfport.
Mr. York, a native of Gulfport, was a long-time resident of Long Beach and had been residing in Gulfport for the past several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in WWII. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Gulfport Ward, where he served as Bishop twice. Mr. York worked for 20 years for a glass shop in Biloxi, then retired from Coast Material Concrete, where he worked for Joe Boardman. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ada York; his brother, Andrew """"Joseph"""" York; and his sisters, Evelyn Reed and Doris Gangloff.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Louise Bass York; his four children, Jack Thomas York and wife Charlotte; Clifford """"Wayne"""" York and fiance Tammy Gibson; Regina Gail York Munzlinger and husband Tom; and George Neal York and wife Gina Marie; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, where friends may visit two hours prior. Burial with military honors will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
