Harold Eugene Saucier, 85, a lifelong resident of the Orange Grove area of Gulfport, passed peacefully away after a short illness, on the evening of April 1, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Harold was a machinist and metal fabricator retiring from Taber Aluminum, a job he began as a young man. He was influential to family in so many ways. As patriarch of the family properties he knew of ALL happenings, be it the comings and goings of each family member, wayward vehicle or pesky opossum. Whether it be major choices in life or garden plans there wasn’t a move made that he wasn’t overseeing. Never short on advice, Daddy- Dad-Paw Paw- Unk guided all who listened to wiser choices. He could improvise a solution to most any hardware situation using his MacGyver skills and materials on hand dating back to nails and toothpicks saved from his childhood pockets. No need to buy it if you have it, you just have to be smart enough to figure it out. To his core, he was a family man. He led us through his character and work ethic. He always made sure that his family knew that he loved them, not by constantly repeating the magic words, but by living the values he was committed to and showing his love by his actions. We will miss his steadfastness and dedication to us all.
Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maggie (Margaret Jean); their two children, Danielle Saucier Bates and Randall Eugene Saucier (Flora Hatton); three grandchildren, Madeline Raye Bates of Lubbock TX, Cody Simmons Bates of Fayetteville AR, and Bennett Nathan Bates (Haleigh) of Jackson MS; his nephew, Rodney Duane Spence (Connie) and their children and grandchildren - Sarah Beth Spence of Birmingham AL and Diggs Clifford Spence (Katelyn) with their twin sons Ridge and Ryder; his niece, Marlene Faye Cockrell (Leman) and their three daughters, Lauren Nicole Cockrell of Orlando FL, Carlee Mae, and Ashley Faye, of Magee MS.
Mr. Saucier is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Eugene Saucier and Bessie Mae Loper Saucier; and his sister Dorothy Janet Spence.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Singing River Ochner ER and ICU for the extraordinary care of our loved one.
