Harold L Jenner Jr, of Gulfport, passed away on 29 Oct 2018 at the age of 92.
Harold was born 2 January 1926, in Auburn, NY to Alice and Harold Jenner. He grew up in North Syracuse, NY and lived there until he enlisted in the US Army Air Corp on 17 Dec 1943 at the age of 17. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and retired as a CMSgt from the USAF in May of 1968. He moved to Gulfport to raise his family and assumed ownership of 10

Street Grocery, his in-laws' business, on the west side. Hurricane Camille altered his plans and he became an AFJROTC instructor at the St. Paul's School in Covington, LA where he taught from 1971-1988 and also served as the junior class moderator. He was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport, a past member of the parish council, a 3

Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and Young at Heart. He is a charter member of the World War II Museum and a member of American Legion Post 0016. He enjoyed a very active retired life in Gulfport serving as an appointed city commissioner from 1991-1995, a member of Gulfport Civitans, a founding member of Coast Centurions, a strong supporter of the Coast Military Affairs Committee and Salute to the Military. In November of 2003, Harold was recognized as the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce "Volunteer of the Year" and the award was renamed the Harold L Jenner Volunteer of the Year Award.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; Alice & Harold Jenner, his wife of 64 years, Dorothy S. Jenner, siblings: Margaret, Mary, John, Richard and William, his oldest son Michael E. Jenner and daughter-in-law Sarah J. Jenner. He is survived by his sister Rose Marie (Pat) Bowyer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, daughter Melanie (Larry) Clark of Gulfport, and son Mark (Becky) Jenner of Pass Christian, MS; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jack) Wittmann and Lauren (Michael) Santa Cruz, of Gulfport, Sammy (Hollie) Jenner of Latimer and Michael (Jamie) Jenner Jr. of Ocean Springs. He lived his life as a proud "GI" from what has been called "The Greatest Generation" and will always be remembered as "Sarge" or "Chief" to many friends, family, students and acquaintances. His six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews will always treasure "Bepa" or Uncle Harry. The family would also like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living/Memory Care and Cannon Hospice for their care and compassion over the past years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, at 12:00 PM, with a visitation one hour prior.
Burial will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be son Mark Jenner, son-in-law Larry Clark, grandsons Sammy and Michael Jenner, grandsons-in-law Jack Wittmann and Michael Santa-Cruz.
