Harley Mitchell Wright

Harley Mitchell Wright was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 23, 1997, to Natalie Glicco, where he was delivered to his mom in a bright red Christmas stocking. Red remained his favorite color from that day forward.

Harley attended school at Philadelphia Public School District in Philadelphia, Mississippi, and then Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama, where he graduated in 2017.

He was fascinated by dinosaurs, and was an avid lover of all animals, except spiders! His thirst for knowledge about them was astonishing. He loved to watch documentaries about nature and all the animals and creatures that roamed the earth and filled the seas. He fell in love with Star Wars at 3 or 4, when he found his Uncle Dekkie’s videos of the original movies. From there it was Transformers and Godzilla along with all of those titans. Of course, he would talk through the entire movies, telling you all about the characters. In his eyes, there was no room for football — his heart raced instead for the adventures and knowledge of the natural world.

On October 7, 2024, Harley Mitchell Wright of Gulfport, Mississippi, gained his angel wings at home at the age of 26. He is survived by his devoted mother, Natalie Glicco, who resides in Gulfport; his uncle, Derek Glicco (Kim) of Gulfport; and his grandparents, Bill and Kay Nelson of Meridian, Mississippi. Additionally, Harley’s caregivers and special friends played an integral role in his life, providing support and companionship that he valued deeply.

Harley was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Mitchell “Mickey” Glicco of Meridian; along with his great-grandparents, John and Audie Glicco of Meridian, and Lonnie and Agnes McKee, also of Meridian.

In every joyous moment shared and every adventure embarked upon, Harley leaves a legacy of kindness and wonder. He had an amazing capacity of forgiveness that he turned into love. His spirit will be remembered, and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In 2004, Harley was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In lieu of flowers, the family request for donations to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy – PPMD, in honor of Harley. Please visit https://www.parentprojectmd.org/
