H. Vernon ""Dutch"" Haas, age 87, of Kiln passed away July 17, 2012.
He was born January 8, 1925 in Bay St. Louis, MS. He served his country in the United States Army. He was wounded during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Dutch was the manager of the Kiln Utility Authority for 33 years. He was also a member of Kiln Memorial VFW Post 6285.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Merle Depreo Haas; children, Verna Haas, Rhonda Stockstill, Annette Haas, Janet Palmer, Charles Haas, and Phillip Haas (Sharon); six grandchildren, Rachel Neal (Glenn), Jonathan Stockstill, Erica Palmer, Joshua, Marissa and Justin Haas; and three great grandchildren, Whitney and Braden Neal, and Taylor Stockstill.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Annunciation Catholic Church (New Church), Kiln, MS. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to mass in the New Church. Interment will follow mass at Bayou Coco Cemetery, Kiln.
