GRETA “The Big G” GEIGER DARROW, age 83, resident of One Magnolia Place, Gulfport, MS, a woman of fun and adventure, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, surrounded by caregivers and the memories of a life well-lived. Born and raised in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, Greta's journey took her to Saudi Arabia during her childhood years with her father, adding a touch of international experience to her formative years.
Greta embraced life with a passionate spirit mirroring the essence of New Orleans. In 1980, she, along with her husband Everett Darrow, embarked on a new chapter, moving to Bay St. Louis, MS. Here, her family enjoyed the beauty of small-town life, creating cherished childhood memories that would last a lifetime.
As a professional, Greta contributed to the fields of insurance and later, real estate, showcasing her versatility. Her infectious personality found joy in the company of people, the thrill of spontaneous adventures, and the simple pleasure of shopping.
Greta is survived by her son, David Palmisano and his wife, Denise Palmisano and their two sons, Dodge and Dakota, all of Lawrenceville, GA, along with her daughter, Donna Palmisano Fishman and son-in-law, Mark Fishman, of Atlanta, Georgia, hold dear the memories of a free-spirited mother. Greta is also survived by her sister, Mercedes Haddad, of Mandeville, LA, along with nieces, a nephew, and a longtime caregiver, Bobbye Terry of Bay St. Louis.
Preceded in death by her son, Thomas Palmisano in 2004, her husband, Everett H. Darrow in 2014, and her father, Thomas C. Geiger of Bay St. Louis. Greta's legacy and gifts live on in the hearts of those she touched. A memorial mass will be said in her honor at Our Lady of the Gulf in Bay St. Louis, MS. Her cremains will be laid to rest next to her family at Gardens of Memory Cemetery on January 30, 2024, at 10:00 am.
Greta Darrow's love for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
