Granville O. ""Grant"" Chastain, age 91, of Gulfport, MS, passed away April 24, 2014, at the Biloxi Veteran's Administration Hospice Ward.
Mr. Chastain was a native of Mitchell, IN. He was the son of the late Albert and Dora Chastain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters.
Grant resided in Gulfport most of his life. He began a 30 plus year career in Federal Civil Service in Ohio but served in LA, AL, MS, Thailand, and finally as the civilian personnel officer for the Keesler Technical Training Center in Biloxi. He retired from government service in 1973.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Gulfport.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Era Davis Chastain; two sons, David Otto Chastain and wife Carol, and Daryl Edgar Chastain; granddaughter, Emily Gail Chastain and husband Paul; and grandson, Jefferson David Chastain and wife Evan.
The family of Mr. G.O. ""Grant"" Chastain will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12 o'clock Noon on Monday at First Baptist Church of Gulfport where Dr. Jimmy Stewart will officiate the funeral ceremony at Noon. A committal service will be conducted at Biloxi National Cemetery.
