Mrs. Grace Louise Famularo Harwood, age 89.
At 3:50 a.m., February 8, 2011, Gulfport lost one of the most loving and kind hearted women this world has ever known. Born on March 14, 1921, Grace Harwood was known for never having harbored ill will toward another human being.
Graduating from Gulfport High School and Gulf Park College, she married Col. Richard D. Harwood on June 17, 1942 after a courtship which began at the Gulfport Yacht Club. After traveling throughout the world-- from Okinawa, Japan to Trieste on the Italian border-- in support of her husband's military career, she settled in Gulfport in 1978.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lilly Giuffria Famularo, she leaves a loving and devoted husband of 68 years; three children- Roseann Painter, Sylvia Skinner, both of Memphis, TN, and Robert Harwood, of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren- Max Painter, Laura Painter Stafford, Ellis Skinner, Kelly Skinner Stacey, Claire Harwood and Patrick Harwood and 5 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, February 10, 11 a.m.
