Gordon Oliver Straw, age 77 and a resident of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mr. Straw had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 39 years and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Mr. Straw was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Mr. Straw is preceded in death by his parents, Reo & Thelma Straw; his daughter, Danita Straw of Iowa and his stepson, Chris Garrett of Gulfport.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Bobbie Straw of Gulfport; his sons, Danny (Susie) Straw and Reo Straw all of Iowa; his stepsons, Charles (Regina) Garrett and Tim Garrett all of Gulfport; his stepdaughter, Ann (Buck) Fore of Gulfport; his sister, Marjorie Prescott of Forsyth, MO; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 17430 Landon Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Finley Cemetery at a later date.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.
