Gordon Vance Justice, Sr., was born in Pascagoula, MS to Shirley Agnes Valverde Justice and Thurman Thomas Justice, Sr. He grew up in Pascagoula, joined the U.S. Army in 1946 serving during the Occupation of Japan and the Korean War. Upon returning home, he attended MS Southern College where he obtained a business degree before attending pharmacy school at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, graduating in 1959.
Gordon owned and operated Long Beach Drug Company from 1966 - 1976. He then worked for Jones Bros Drugs, Big B Drugs, and Rite Aid before retiring in 1995.
He was a much loved husband, father, and doting grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dr. Thurman Thomas Justice, Jr., a sister-in-law, Betty Ratcliffe Justice, a sister, Shirley Joyce Justice Ballard, and brother, Benjamin Robert Justice, and a son, Carey Anderson Justice.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine Bagby Justice, his children, Gordon Vance Justice, Jr., Shirley Justice Turner Davis (George), and John Mark Justice, and grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Justice, Alan Patrick Justice (Christine), Paul McMillan Turner (Stephanie), and Mary Alice Turner, and a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Anne Justice and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Gordon passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, after a brief illness. The family would like to thank the numerous physicians and nursing staff at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, the staff at The Boyington, and the Gentiva Hospice Staff for their care.
Memorials may be made to the Long Beach Presbyterian Church, The American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, or to the charity of your choosing.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014, from 1 - 2pm at the Long Beach Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be at 2 pm in the church sanctuary. Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
