Gloria M. Weathersby, age 92, of Pascagoula, formerly of Long Beach, passed away on February 27, 2010 in Mobile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Weathersby, Sr and a brother, Clarence McDonald.
She is survived by her children, Sarah Singleton and her husband, Jimmy, of Springfield, TN, Jeanie Posey and her husband, Ken, of Roswell, GA, Robin Weihing and her husband, Carl, and Robert E. Weathersby, Jr and his wife, Carolyn, all of Pascagoula, and Ken Weathersby and his wife, Michele, of Montclair, NJ; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and many friends and caregivers at Knollwood Pointe Assisted Living Community.
She was a United Methodist and a homemaker. She was a member of the Long Beach Garden Club, former member of the Outboard Motor Club in Gulfport, the Gulfport Yacht Club, and Plantation Pines Tennis Club. She was a lifelong environmentalist and contributor to the Sierra Club and Nature Conservancy. She was proud of her five children who all became educators.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Eastlawn United Methodist Church, Pascagoula, where family and friends may visit from 1:00 PM until service time.
