Gloria Clay Mauldin, a beloved educator and dedicated family member, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 91. Born on November 6, 1933, in Meridian, Mississippi, Gloria was a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast and Gulfport, where she left a lasting impact on both the community and the lives of countless students.

A proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Gloria dedicated her career to the Gulfport Public School System, embodying the spirit of a true teacher. Her passion for education and unwavering commitment to her students were evident throughout her years in the classroom. She instilled a love for learning in her students, making a difference in their lives that will be cherished long after her passing.

Gloria had a vibrant life beyond her professional endeavors. An avid gardener, she found joy in nurturing plants and flowers, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty around her. This love for gardening brought her solace and fulfillment.  Gloria was a longtime member of Handsboro Baptist Church in Gulfport. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Talmadge Mauldin; her son, David Mauldin, & his wife, Emily; her sister, Cynthia Shoemaker, & her husband, Dewitt; her brother, Carey Clay, & his wife, Kay. Gloria was also a proud grandmother to Brian Switzer & his wife, Jill, as well as a great-grandmother to Aubrey Switzer, and Amber Howard & her husband Jacob.  Her legacy will live on through her loving family, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Gloria was preceded in death by her dear daughter, Deborah Switzer, whose loss was deeply felt by the entire family; her brother, Artis Clay; and her parents, Chester and Luna Clay.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, both at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. The burial ceremony will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. 

As the family and friends come together to celebrate the extraordinary life of Gloria Mauldin, they invite those who knew her to remember not only her dedication as a teacher but also the warmth and love she brought to all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
