Glenn H. Buck, 83, passed away October 19, 2010. Born in Gulfport, MS, he was a resident of New Orleans (Algiers) for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Clark Buck; 4 children: Thomas G. Buck (Bridget Sullivan), Susan B. Gunnels (William Gunnels), William C. Buck (Abby Muller), Kenneth W. Buck (Jaime Hughes), and 8 grandchildren: Glenn, Shane, Graham, Audrey, Benjamin, Annie, and Jacob Buck, and Molly Gunnels. He is also survived by sister Margaret Ann Marks, and brothers James L. Buck and Frank W. Buck.
Mr. Buck graduated from Gulfport High School, where he was student body president and an all state football player. After serving in the US Merchant Marines, he received a BS in geology from the University of Oklahoma. He was in the 822nd Engineers of the US Army, serving in Korea, and then earned a Masters in geology from LSU. Mr. Buck lived his life by the Scout Law, earning the rank of Eagle with 3 palms, the Silver Beaver Award, and serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 63 for 16 years. After a career as an exploration geologist with Exxon, Mr. Buck served his Woodland Presbyterian Church family for 21 years as Treasurer.
The family thanks JoJo and Gail of Serenity Hospice for their loving care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation to begin at 10:30am and the funeral service at 11:30am on Friday, October 22, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
A memorial service will be held at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 5824 Berkeley Drive, New Orleans, LA, at 10:00am on Saturday, October 23.
