Mrs. Gladys M. Knight age 85, of Gulfport, Miss. died in Gulfport on May 3, 2006. Mrs. Knight was a native of Alabama and moved to Gulfport in 1947. She went to work for Mac Smith Garment Factory and retired with Maybelle Garments. Mrs Knight was a long time member of the DAV and VFW Ladies Auxillary in Gulfport. She loved to play bingo. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse T. Knight, Jr. (J. T.) father Elijah Cantrell and mother, Bertha Loveless Cantrell.
She is survived by her son Gary Joffrion, Sr. and his wife Patsy of Gulfport, daughters, Betty Watts and husband Roddy of Gautier and Paulette Tressler and husband Paul of Jacksonville, Fla., sister Mary Ray of Ohio, and brothers Jack Cantrell of Gulfport and Charles Cantrell of Georgia; also by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Lakeview Nursing Center for the great care given to Mrs. Knight. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 6,2006 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the 3 Rivers Road Chapel of Gulf Coast Funeral Homes. The service will be conducted at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel and interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
