Maryann Moreno has lost her best friend, her mother, GLADYS ROSE HENRY, age 91, and a resident of Biloxi.
Ms. Henry was born in Jamaica but was raised in her adopted country, the Republic of Panama, and retired in New York. She relocated to the Gulf Coast in 1996 to be close to her family. She was a motivational educator, and a skillful seamstress. She was an avid ballroom and Latin dancer and enjoyed traveling aboard cruise ships. Ms. Henry was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi.
She is survived by her daughter, Maryann Moreno, and her husband Manuel, of Biloxi, her great grandnephew and like a son, Michael Mongerie, and his wife, Alethia, of New York, NY; three grandchildren, Manuel A. Moreno, Jr. of Cary, NC, Major Marizza Moreno-Benton, USAF, and her husband, Major Gary Benton, USAF, both of Patrick Air Force Base, FL; and Marco Antonio Moreno, and his wife, Tammy, of Fargo, ND; four great-grandchildren, Mikhail, Chandellor, Alia, and Jade; and friends from the Hispanic community and others.
Memorials may be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 366 Cowan Rd, Gulfport, MS 39507, or the Hispanic Foundation at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2090 Pass Rd, Biloxi, MS, 39531.
Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 6:00p.m. until 7:00p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, in Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
