Mr. Gilbert Nathan Welch age 89, and a resident of Gulfport, died in Texas on December 14, 2006.
Mr. Welch was born on May 20, 1917 in Salt Creek, Ohio and was a long time resident of Gulfport. Mr. Welch was employed for 19 years with the Max Smith Garment factory in Gulfport and worked for the Sealand Terminal as a longshoreman until his retirement.He was also a life time member of the Nazarene Church.
Mr. Welch is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Welch, a son, John Franklin Welch, a sister, Mae Lizana and brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, Emmitt, Ernie, and Ray Welch; survivors include his daughter and her husband, Hazel Beatrice Spain and William of Livingston, Texas, his grandchildren and their spouses, David Spain and wife Virginia, Gilbert Wayne Spain, Rachel Cansler and her husband Danny, Anthony Spain and his wife Pam, Wanda Hobley and her husband Terry, also by his sister, Mrs. Ruth Osborne of Gulfport and by 14 great grandchildren and 3 Great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Riemann Family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
The family prefers contributions to the Church of the Nazarene in Gulfport, Three Rivers Road.
