Geraldine Loretto Hammons

November 25, 1941 — June 25, 2015

Geraldine Loretto Fennell Hammons passed away peacefully in Gulfport after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family on June 25, 2015.
Gerry was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was born in New Orleans, LA, on November 25, 1941, but resided in Long Beach most of her life. She attended St. Thomas Elementary School and St. John's and graduated from Long Beach High School in 1959.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, W.G. ""Bill"" and Dolores Fennell.
Gerry married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Hammons. Together they raised four sons, Steven (Ida) Hammons, Keith (Krista) Hammons, Ronnie Jr. (Mimi) Hammons, and Randy (Hope) Hammons. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, Whitney, Shea, Michael, Haley, Brian Keith, Aaron, Lauren, Erica, Jeremy, Jonathan (Elise,) Joshua (Michelle Phillips), Madison, Will Hammons, and Ryan Bradley; and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Cooper Bradley. She is also survived by five siblings, Billy (Laura) Fennell, Pamela (Frank) Pinnix, Connie (Bill) Cole, Jackie (Bobby) Bates, and G.O. (Marsha) Fennell. She also had a special relationship with two former daughters-in -law, Robin Hammons and Jill Miller.
Gerry leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews that all share a special love of their ""Gigi"".
Gerry loved her St. Thomas Parish family and through the years volunteered in many capacities. She never met a stranger. Even though she was hospitalized for the last month of her life, she never lost her wonderful smile, sense of humor, and her very deep faith in her Lord.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Payment, the entire staff of the third floor at Memorial Hospital, all of the nursing staff and the ICU team for taking such good care of our Gerry.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Thomas Church, P.O. Box 2529, Long Beach, MS 39560.
