Mr. Gerald Lee Ward, age 76, resident of Diamondhead, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010.
Mr. Ward was born in Macomb, IL, to Ancil Earl and Mildred Elizabeth Ward on December 29, 1933. After high school graduation, he went to the University of Illinois. He entered the U.S. Army after his junior year and after discharge, he finished school and earned his bachelor's degree. He received his Master's degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He worked for Caterpillar for 30 years before retiring. He moved to Diamondhead in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was a licensed pilot and licensed scuba diver and a member of Diamondhead Community Church, where he served as an Elder. He was a director on the Diamondhead Property Owner's Association. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a Shriner, where his memberships were held in Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kae Ward of Diamondhead; children, Beth Skeen (Michael) of Diamondhead, Scott Ward (Kathleen) of Omaha, NE, and Dan Ward (Cathy) of Dallas, TX; brother, Ron Ward (Jane) of Redwing, MN; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Diamondhead Community Church at 2 p.m.
