Gerald """"Jerry"""" Hoffman, age 57, resident of Long Beach, died on Friday, January 12, 2007 at his home in Long Beach.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Birmingham, AL, and was a former resident of Lousiana. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and was a retired Recreational Therapist with the Veterans Administration. Mr. Hoffman was a big supporter of his community, having served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where he was a former President of the St. Thomas PTO, and he coached little league baseball and youth soccer for 16 years. Mr. Hoffman was a rabid LSU fan and was a devoted husband, father, and extremely proud """"Paw Paw.""""
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Irene Mixon Hoffman, and a brother, Henry Holton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sue Hoffman of Long Beach; children, Laura and Dan Pepper of Jacksonville, NC and Jeffrey Hoffman of Neptune Beach, FL; siblings, Kenneth Holton of Little River, SC and his wife Jean, Albert Hoffman, Jr. of Middleboro, MA and his wife Maralyn, Patricia Goss of Middleboro, MA and her husband George, Doie Colello of Albany, NY and her husband Joe, and Eileen Schleiger of Dunedin, FL and her husband Harry; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Rylie Pepper; potbelly pig, Priscilla, Patches the cat, and two chickens, Rhoda and Checkers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Daugherty Road, Long Beach, at 11:00 a.m. where friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
