Georgie Ladner "Georgia" Irwin, age 87, of Long Beach, joined her husband Bill in Heaven on November 27, 2018, with her loving family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William W. "Bill" Irwin; her parents, Edward Victor and Mary Zengarling Ladner; and 3 brothers, Joe Ladner, Leo Ladner, and her twin brother, George Ladner.
Survivors include her children, Debbie (Roy) Gilmore, William W. (Marilyn) Irwin, Jr., Mary "Kathy" (Greg) Stokes, Leslie (Alison) Irwin, John (Kim) Irwin, and Matthew (Kim) Irwin, 12 grandchildren, Roy (Jordan) Gilmore, Kristen Shelby, Jarrod (Melissa) Gilmore, Kimberly Gilmore, Beth (Todd) Weiland, Janice (Jonathan) Geddes, Bill (Karen) Irwin, III, Kathryn Irwin, Kara (Matt) Smith, Justin Irwin, John (Caitlin) Irwin, Jr., and Jeremy Irwin; 19 great-grandchildren, Leila, Cole, Lilly, Laurel, Leighton and Charlotte Gilmore, Madison Shelby, Zoe Gilmore, Ryan and Abby Weiland, Trenton and Brantley Geddes, Eloise, William W., IV, Rosalie, and Ginger Irwin, Drew and Jake Smith, Patrick Irwin, and an expected great-grandchild in May; a brother, Bobby (Ann) Ladner; her sisters, Ethel Favre, Anna (Gilbert) Schmidt, Evelyn Sticker, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Irwin was a native of Bay St. Louis and was a longtime resident of Long Beach. Mrs. Irwin was a faithful and devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was involved in numerous ministries at the church. She was dedicated to her family and she and her husband enjoyed traveling and went to 48 states, Italy, Ireland, and the Holy Land, walking on their property, gardening, sewing, baking, and taking care of her grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 9:30 am - 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E. Beach Blvd., Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in the church. A private interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to Brenda Chapman and the staff at Senior Oaks, especially Linda, Kenisha, and Rose for the loving care of their mother.
