George Wallace White III

Long Beach, MS

George Wallace White III, 80 of Long Beach passed away on October 2, 2024 at the St. Joseph’s Hospice. He was born on January 25, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama to the late George “Wallace” White II & Estelle Airey. George is preceded death by his parents; sister, Patricia Wood; and brother in laws, Douglas Rhodes, and J.R. Johnson.

George graduated in 1962 from Murphy High School in Mobile. During high school, he met Ann and they were married on October 6, 1962. Upon completion of High School, George joined the United States Army. He enlisted and served in the United States Army for 22 years retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer II. During his deployment this is where he saw the world. George was stationed at Fort Bliss and various bases in Germany, and did two tours in Korea. While in Army he was an Electronics Technician and worked on radar for missle guidance systems. After, spending his time and retiring from Army, George began a second career in Civil Service where he obtained a second retirement from Keesler Air Force Base. He even worked for Lockeed Martin at Stennis NASA Facility, as a PMEL technician in the Electronics Lab.

George enjoyed being in the garage, working on cars and his last was a 68 Chevy C10 pickup. He also built things from small repairs to computers. He liked to woodwork as well and built several things for the home. George liked spending time in the outdoors tending his garden. Growing up in Alabama, George was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy lives on in all of us, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann White; children, John White (Kelly Matturri), and Sherry Lynn (James) Dailey; grandson, Rhett White; sisters, Yvonne Johnson, and Dolores Rhodes; and his beloved dog “Daisey”. George also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of friends and extended family.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
