George Robert Tapper, Sr., age 76 of D’Iberville, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
He was a graduate of D’Iberville High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1973. During his years of service, he received many awards and recognitions. George was employed civil service at Keesler Air Force Base from 1973 until 1990 and from there, worked at Harrison County School District until 1995. From 1995 until 2020, George was working as a missionary in the Printing Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Homer Tapper; his mother, Mae Rosalie Reece Tapper; his sisters, Patsy Tapper Roman and Trula Tapper Taronto; and his brothers, Joseph Campo, Gerald Tapper, and Buddy Tapper.
George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lillian Tapper; his children, George Tapper, Jr. (Laura), Steve Tapper (Sandy), and Elana Tapper (Alan); his brother, Milton Campo (Bonnie); his grandchildren, Chris Tapper (Suzanne), George Tapper III, Toni Dickson (Howie), Linsey Thompson (Chris), Savannah Andrews (Austin), Kenny Mallette (Heather), Tyler Mallette (Alexis), Mandy Tapper, Paul Tapper (Kayleigh), Steven Dunkin (Erica), and Jeremy Dunkin (Jen); his great grandchildren, Daxton, Bryce, Cole, Jackson, Emery, Liam, Aiden, Jaxon, Ryleigh, Kyleigh, Ronan, Channing, Austin, Stevie, Justin, Ally, Ayden, Zoe, Corrinne, Alyson, Emily, Anna, Gracyn, Grant, and Westin; and his niece, Joyce Campo Kelly.
He was a deacon at Biloxi River Baptist Church and also ran a printing ministry (Print Shop), sending gospel tracts to spread the gospel all over the world. George loved and served the Lord. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He also loved spending time with his family and watching football
George will always be remembered as a very king, loving, funny husband, father, and PawPaw. He loved his family. The love of his life, his wife Lillian, was his most cherished treasure. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and have been together since he was 13 years old.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2020, at Biloxi River Baptist Church, Gulfport, with a visitation from 11:30 until the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
