George Miles

George Oliver Miles, age 103, passed away peacefully, on March 17, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Wooten Miles; his parents; five brothers, Arlis M. Miles (Nettie Mae), Charlie Edgar Miles (Juanita), George Clifton Miles Jr. (Etoyl), and Robert Leslie Miles; nine nephews and nieces; and many great nieces and nephews.

George is survived by one brother, Claiborne E. Miles (Jeanne) of Gulfport; and one sister-in-law, Sue Byran Miles of Birmingham.

He was born in Calhoun County, Mississippi, on August 31, 1918. He was the son of George Clifton Miles, Sr. and Annie Stewart Miles, and his stepmother, Martha Smith Miles. George was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and Jackson School of Law. George practiced law in Jackson, Mississippi for over fifty years. After retiring he moved to Gulfport and became a member of Bayou View Baptist Church and was a volunteer as a Spiritual Counselor at Gulf Coast Community Ministries.

A graveside service will be held 12:30pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
