George F. Dowling

George F. Dowling, was born on December 30, 1946, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and passed away on June 10, 2023, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 76. He was a lifetime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and a dedicated member of the Harrison County Sheriff Department, where he served in Patrol and Corrections.

George was a graduate of Long Beach High School, Class of 1965, and a devout Catholic who was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, both deep sea and freshwater, and was known for his kind heart and down-to-earth personality. George always put others before himself and was always willing to help his family in times of need.

George was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Louise York, his brother, Pete Bass, his parents, George E. Dowling and Anita Smith Dowling, and his nephew, Tommy York. He is survived by his nephews, Wayne York, George Neal York, Mike Bass, and his nieces, Regina Munzlinger and Linda Bass.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd. Long Beach, MS. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. Following the funeral service, he will be laid to rest next to his parents in Long Beach City Cemetery, Long Beach, MS.

George will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kind heart and selflessness will always be remembered, and his legacy will live on through the memories he created with his loved ones.
