George "Mendel" Deas, Jr.

George Mendel Deas, Jr., age 28, of Gulfport, passed away on July 25, 2022.

Mendel was born in Gulfport to George Mendel Deas, Sr. and Nancy Prescott Deas. He attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was a remarkable artist. Mendel was extremely talented in many ways. He enjoyed photography, skateboarding, and spending time with his family and friends and his buddy, Squirt the Pug. He loved his nephew Connor with all of his heart, and his Uncle Mike was very special to him. Mendel was a sweet, loving, and caring person, buying and sharing food with the homeless and delivering blankets to them when it was cold. Our hearts are broken, for we’ve lost our little angel, but he is sitting at the right hand of God.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Mendel Deas, Sr.; grandparents, George and Louise Deas and Paul and Emma Prescott; and aunt, Pamela Joy Deas.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Prescott Deas; sister, Michelle (Lee) Rankin; his beloved nephew, Connor; his aunts and uncles, Tanya Fayard (Johnny), Lynn Prescott, Cathy Flanagan (Randall Aragon), Debbie Carter (Mike), Dennis Prescott, and Liz Kaestner (Don); and many cousins and their families that he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 8:30 am until 10:00 am.  Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel and burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
