George Travis Brumbelow, age 90, resident of Long Beach, passed away on March 24, 2022 in Gulfport, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Amanda Brumbelow, and three brothers, Arthur "Junior” and his twin brothers Roy and Troy.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mary Virginia “Ginny" Brumbelow; children; Edward Brumbelow (Ginger) and David Brumbelow of Jackson, TN; Kimberly Gill and Dedra Migues (Shawn "Nap") of Biloxi; Kathryn Noblitt (Monty) of Ocean Springs; Denton Herring (Linda) of Peachtree Corners, GA; grandchildren (who knew him as Pop Pop), Amanda Brumbelow, Johnathon Brumbelow, Alan Brumbelow, Tyler Gill, Trent Gill, Katie Gill, Cooper Ann Wedgeworth, Victoria Migues, Monty "Deuce" Noblitt, Maddox Noblitt, Molly Noblitt, Logan Herring, and Walker Herring.
George was born in Pocahontas, TN, where he eventually became Valedictorian of his high school class. Following high school, he served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He also attended the University of Tennessee before beginning his professional career. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. in Natchez, MS, where he worked for more than two decades and from the Woodmen of the World life insurance corporation. He had been a resident of Long Beach since the 1980s.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, cheer, dance, and anything else they were involved in. He was known as someone who could “fix" anything, which mostly consisted of toys! He enjoyed listening to oldies on his juke box and traveling when he could, especially to his home state of Tennessee (and every state park along the way).
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2022, with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS. His burial, with military honors, will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who has extended their condolences. As 'Pop Pop' would always say, “I'm glad you got to see me!"
