George A. """"Pete"""" Bennett, age 81, of Woolmarket, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 in Gulfport.
Mr. Bennett was a native of Harrison Co., MS and had lived all of his life on the coast. He was an active member of Coalville United Methodist Church. He was a member and twice past master of Polar Star Lodge #154, 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, and Gulfport York Rite Bodies. He enjoyed being a member and serving as past president of Palmer Creek Methodist Campground. Other than spending time with his family and many friends, his greatest joy was spent helping others.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Merna Bennett, a daughter, Merna Regina Bennett; parents, Peter Lamar and Mary Jane Bennett, 2 brothers: Lamar Bennett, Harold Bennett, 4 sisters: Althea Bannister, Narvel Ryan, Irene Miller, and Mary Lou Morris.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Linda (Matt) Konscak, Woolmarket and Kathy (Denny) Rowedder, Phoenix, AZ; 3 grandchildren: Michelle (Alan) Lane, Carrie (Boyd) West, and Sandee (Isaac) Crosno; 5 great-grandchildren: Lauren Childres, Caleb and Canaan West, and Allison and Zachary Crosno, many close friends and other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 6-8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Coalville United Methodist Church where friends may visit from 10:00 am until the service at 11:00 am.
Interment will be in Coalville Cemetery.
