Genovefa Cupp, age 82, of Long Beach, passed away on December 13, 2018 from complications after a triple bypass surgery where she fought a 45 day stay in the hospital and she is now rejoicing in the heavens above.
Mrs. Cupp was born in Germany on October 11, 1936 to the late Ludwig and Genovefa Schmid. She is preceded in death by seven other siblings in heaven.
Our beloved mother "Omi" is survived by her three children, daughter, JoAn Niceley (husband, Larry), two sons: William Cupp (wife, Ondey) and Dale Cupp (wife, Lorinda). her grandson, Matthew Cupp (wife, Hollie) and five great-grandchildren, Trystan and Emma Cupp, Liam Cupp, Annah and Kennedy Niceley. She is survived by two sisters, Elisabeth Walwrapp, and Annie Mayer (husband, Heini); a brother, Joseph (Sepp) Schmid (wife Crystal), all residing in Germany; and she has lots of nieces and nephews in Germany.
Genovefa leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She was the best and most amazing mother and Omi (Grandmother) a child could ever ask for. She loved spending time with her family, fishing with her great-grandchildren, hanging out at the Long beach Harbor watching pelicans and others fishing. Walking, swimming and being in the outdoors were her hobbies. When it came to traveling and attending social functions with her daughter was always ready to go!
All that knew her loved her. She was such a classy, sassy, caring woman. She loved to live, love, laugh and have fun. Her beautiful smile and spirit was so welcoming. She loved chatting and making coffee at her daughter's hair salon for her clients and always got lots of hugs in return. Everyone called her mom and she loved it. She was known for her beauty and fashion. She was always dressed to perfection, hair styled and makeup perfect. Her six year old great-granddaughter even ask her one time "Omi, do you ever not fix your hair and makeup?" Omi (mom) replied, "No Emma, I always fix myself up every day of my life!"
*My Omi: She was an energetic grandmother and great grandmother that spent time caring for others and anyone in need. She was the most unselfish person, she would do with out to make sure others had what they needed. She instilled hard work and compassion to three generations of kids. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Matthew
*My mom: she was my life, my heart and my everlasting love. She taught me to be the strong, caring woman I am today. I spent the last 45 days at the hospital, day and night, not wanting to leave her side. As sick as she was we found laughter in many ways. I wanted to brighten each day as much as I could for her. I sang to her, danced in front of her bed for her, decorated the room for Christmas, prayed with her and even kissed on hand so much it bruised. She said to me one day...you're are kissing my skin raw. LOL. She and I spent almost every day of my life together for the past 59 years, she was my very best friend. God's used this time to build our faith and love even stronger than I ever thought it could be. We discovered that Jesus was always there to keep us going. She is now rejoicing in the heavens above.
