Genny Kay Tate-Wedgeworth, age 69 of Saucier, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Larry E. Wedgeworth; her parents, Willie and Geneive Cruthirds Tate; brothers, Jimmy Dale Cruthirds, Gary Tilley and Roy Lynn Tate; stepdaughter, Dorothy W. Rose; grandson, Larry W. Hart; and adopted grandson, Fred P. Sneed.
Genny is survived by her companion of 17 years, John Potts; children, stepdaughter, Jacqueline Polk (Rev. Neil), stepson, Billy Sam Wedgeworth (Jewell Ann), daughters, Vickie Vick (Michael), and Casey Savage (JJ); sister, Judy Lightner (Eric); grandchildren, Victoria Pokey Wedgeworth Magnusen, Rebecca Grob, Ashley McCurrie, Jeremy Savage, Jonathan Savage, Victoria Hutchinson, Gracelynn Vick, 2 step grandchildren, Bo and Crystal Potts; and 5 great grandchildren.
Genny was a lifelong resident of Saucier, MS. She had once worked at an egg farm on Hwy 53. Genny was raised on her family’s farm on Saucier Fairley Road, in Saucier. They provided cucumbers to the pickle factory in Wiggins, MS. She married Larry Wedgeworth at age 23 and they continued farming his family land for many years. Their primary crop was MS Purple Hull Peas. They also planted, harvested, and sold okra, squash, butterbeans, tomatoes, and other vegetables to support their five children. They supplied local farmers markets vegetables for many years.
Genny looked forward to deer hunting season when she could send Larry off hunting every morning and she could get much needed rest. During these months she would crochet, cook, and work word find puzzles. She lived a simple life with love and dedication to her family. Genny was Pentecostal, baptized in Jesus’ name with her mother and brother Roy Lynn Tate in the Biloxi River.

Pallbearers will include Rev. Neil Polk, JJ Savage, Andy Williams, Michael Vick, Aaron Grob, Jeremy Savage, and Billy Wedgeworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Savage and Bo Potts.
Visitation will be 9-10am, Monday, January 2, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. The funeral service will be after the visitation at 10am. Interment is Larry E. Wedgeworth Family Cemetery.
