Mrs. Genevieve Cranford Brewer (Mrs. William Brewer) was a longtime resident of Gulfport, MS and went to be with her Lord on November 16, 2013, after a very long illness. She was a much beloved wife and mother, and was very proud to be a helpmate and homemaker.. She was married to Lt. Col. (Retired) William M. Brewer (deceased), and is survived by her daughter, Barbara Brewer Swartz and son-in-law, Richard L. Swartz of Titusville, FL and her grandchildren, Laura Swartz Hogue (Michael) of Viera, FL and Jennifer Anne Swartz of Austin, TX.
Genevieve was born on July 1, 1921, in Collins, MS to Dr. and Mrs. William Sharp Cranford (Maude). She resided in Taylorsville, MS, along with her brother, William S. Cranford (deceased), until she left to attend Jones County Junior College, after which she was employed at the Veteran's Administration in Jackson for several years.
Genevieve had a long and interesting life as she accompanied her husband, Bill, on his assignments, first in the FBI and later in the U.S. Air Force. They were world travelers, residing in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and many different U.S. locations and visited many other countries near their assigned duty stations. In Gulfport, MS, she was active in their church, Trinity United Methodist, as well as the local garden club and the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild.
She will be greatly missed, but thankfully her physical suffering is at an end. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Trinity United Methodist Church (www.trinityumc.com) or to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
