Gary Ambrose Veglia passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 after several weeks of battling COVID and pneumonia in Gulfport Memorial Hospital. He was 69. The devoted patriarch of a large family, he loved each and was dearly loved in return. He is survived by his wife, Jacque Fraser Veglia; children, Michael (Courtney) Veglia, Michelle (Steve) Wortmann, Kristi Ferguson, Nick (Diane) Dudek, Erin (Dave) Lafferty; siblings Gayle Gagliano, Vicky (Randy) Looney, Elizabeth (Billy) Veglia, Maris (Andy) Loup, Susie (Tom) Veglia, Mary Mobley, and Cecy (Everett) Lewis, and grandchildren Carter, Macie, and Maddox Veglia, Caleb and Chandler Garcia, Victoria and Garret Cagle, Taylor Ferguson, Nicholas Dudek and Tristan and Jack Lafferty. He was preceded in death by his father Ambrose Joachim Veglia, mother Cecile Berault Veglia, brothers Michael Veglia and A. J. Veglia, Jr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and many friends.
Gary was born in New Orleans on August 24, 1951 and moved to Long Beach, MS at an early age. He attended St. Thomas Elementary School in Long Beach, St. John High School in Gulfport and Jefferson Davis Junior College in Gulfport.
The ultimate entrepreneur, Gary owned stores, restaurants and lounges in addition to his many other businesses. A supportive member of the community, he generously offered his facilities for charitable fundraising events over the years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Gulfport Memorial Hospital for their care and concern during the time Gary was in their care.
The Funeral Services will be private.
