Gary Palermo

Gary Allan Palermo, age 72, of Long Beach, MS passed away peacefully, January 27, 2022, at the Equal Steps Veterans Home.  The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will escort Gary from Riemann’s Funeral home in Long Beach to the graveside service at Gulf Pines Cemetery in Long Beach on February 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  Gary received a military funeral in honor of his US Naval service.  Gary was a journalist in the Navy.  He carried his love of writing to the ends of his days. Gary enjoyed reading, photography, diving, ships, pirates, the ocean, and anything else nautical.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Concetta Falzone Palermo and Louis Palermo; recently by his wife of many years, Elsie “Nell” Parker Helton Palermo; his stepdaughter, Sha Marie Helton Flannery; and his stepson, Johnny Ray Helton Jr.

Gary is survived by his stepdaughter, Donna Helton Boudreau; his stepdaughter-in-law, Deborah Turnage Helton; his sister Carol; his brother-in-law Brian Coppock; and many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, graveside at Gulf Pines Cemetery.
