Gary Cuevas

Gary Brent Cuevas of Lizana, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, at the age of 64.  After a long bout of lengthy illness, both of his doting daughters were at his side when he succumbed to congestive heart failure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulis J. and Ruby L. Cuevas of Lizana, and brother, Floyd J. Cuevas of Gulfport.

Gary is survived by his two daughters, Cassie R. Cuevas of Gulfport, MS and Caron S. Kost (James) of Theodore, AL; one granddaughter, Marla; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Rivers (Richard) of Union, MS and Mrs. Diane Schultz of Gulfport, MS.

Gary was a graduate of Harrison Central High School, Class of 1975, and he went on to spend much of his working life at the Port of Gulfport.  Gary was a longshoreman and a member of ILA Local 1303. He was known by his nickname “GB”.

As a beloved father and grandfather, he enjoyed watching football, always rooting for the Saints, and spending time with his family.  His granddaughter Marla was the light of his life, and Gary cherished every single day he was allowed to be her Paw-Paw.  While the loss of his affection, support, and wisdom will be greatly missed, his family knows his love remains with them.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, with a funeral service starting at 2:00 pm.
