Garnett D. Mingledorff, 94, died December 14th, 2008 in Stanardsville, Virginia. Born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 21st, 1914 as Miriam Garnett Dudley, she was the daughter of Dr. Sydney Dew Dudley and Miriam Parker Joynes. She was married for sixty-two years to Marvin S. Mingledorff, Jr. who died in 2000. She is survived by her son, M. Scott Mingledorff, his wife Ann, and their daughter Garnett.
Prior to moving to Stanardsville, Mrs. Mingledorff and her husband resided in Pass Christian, Mississippi for twenty-eight years where she was an active member in Trinity Episcopal Church and the Historical Society. She was a locally renowned artist and her architectural drawings captured the beauty of the areaaÌââ¢s homes, many of which were lost during Hurricane Katrina. For the first thirty-four years of their marriage, she and her husband resided in New Orleans where he was Treasurer of International Lubricant Corporation, a subsidiary of Shell Oil. She was very active in social and civic endeavors and was a member of the Orleans Club, Treasurer of the Audubon Area Zoning Association, and Chairman of Visual Education for the schools of the Greater New Orleans area. She attended Newcomb College, the University of Georgia, and was graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, Alabama.
Funeral services will be at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pass Christian on Friday, December 19 at 10:30 a.m. and interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery. Riemann Family Funeral Home of Gulfport, Mississippi is in charge of arrangements.
