Gaetana Benanti Odenwald

Gaetana Benanti Odenwald, born on November 18, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, in Long Beach, Mississippi. 

Geatana was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans. She enjoyed her career as a teacher's aide and library assistant with the Long Beach School System. Beyond her professional endeavors, Geatana was also an active member of the Long Beach Quilting Group and enjoyed playing in her Bunco Group.

Gaetana is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Henry Odenwald, Jr.. She was also preceded in death by her father, Vincent Benanti, Sr., her mother, Frances Badickino, and her brother, Vincent Benanti, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Michael Odenwald (Jacqueline) of Gulfport, MS, and David Odenwald of Pelahatchie, MS., her grandchildren, Patrick Odenwald of Orlando, FL, and Jeremy Walters of Laurel, MS,.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E. Beach Blvd., Long Beach, MS., A visitation will be held at the church from 12:00pm - 1:00pm on February 14, 2025. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the many friends who were part of our parents’ lives. We are touched by the outpouring of prayers and support. A special thank you to Southern Living Assistance Services for their care of Mom.
