Freddie Kinney, a retired Lt. Colonel of the United States Air Force and resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 01, 2006 at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Inc., 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian with graveside services at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian at 1:30 p.m.
He was born on March 15, 1921. A native of Peoria, Illinois he lived on and off for many years on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since the end of World War II when he met and married his wife, George Ann Williams, a native of Biloxi. He is survived by his three children, Michael W. Kinney of Gulfport, Mississippi, Linda M. King of League City, Texas, and Anne L. Stein of Madison, Mississippi. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He fought for his country in both WWII and the Korean War. He also worked for the railroad and enjoyed a career in the computer industry for Sperry Corporation. Unfortunately, like so many Gulf Coast residents, he recently lost his home and all his possessions to Hurricane Katrina. Since that time he has been residing in Madison, Mississippi. Although he will be greatly missed, his memory will be kept alive by those who knew and loved him.
