Freddie Eugene "Monkey" Cospelich, age 78 passed away on June 16, 2021 in Gulfport, MS.
Freddie was born in Gulfport, MS on November 27, 1942. He was a long-time resident of the Gulf Coast. He was best known for running Hub City in Hattiesburg in the 1960's and building Gulfport Dragway in the 1970's. He was a member of Gulf Gardens Baptist Church.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie (Ollie) Cospelich and Katherine (Bill) Dubose; his three brothers, James Cospelich, Larry Cospelich, and Eugene Burrows; and his two sisters, Joyce Ashton and Elizabeth Cospelich.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Cospelich; his two sons, David Cospelich and Jason (Lorie) Cospelich; his daughter, Jennifer (Bartley) Woodard; his four grandchildren, Raven McKenna, Kaleb Woodard, Madison Woodard and Jaxon Cospelich; and his great-grandchild, Rylan McKenna.
Funeral services will held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport at 7:00 p.m., with visitation for friends starting at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a future date.
The family asks in lieu of flowers to please make a donation in his name to the Memorial Foundation Oncology Fund.
